Since I have a few new readers, I decided to share a little information about myself.
I grew up in the Midwest, and moved many times as a child. My father was a pastor in my early childhood, and my mother was a stay-at-home mom until my parents’ divorce in my mid-teen years.
At age 16, my then boyfriend, now husband, and I had our first child. Our oldest is proof that God really does know how to make something beautiful out of our messes. She is awesome. My husband and I got married two years later, and I joined him on his Active-Duty Army adventure. After we were stationed in Maryland and went overseas to Germany, we settled back in the United States at Fort Campbell, KY. We have been in the Fort Campbell, KY/Clarksville, TN area ever since. He retired from the military a few years ago, and despite dealing with both Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), he is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree. I am so proud of him!
Since our oldest daughter’s birth, we have had three more children, two girls and a boy. They are amazing people, and I am very proud to be their mom.
My husband and I are celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary in a few months, and we are more in love today than when we started our journey. Honestly, we had no idea what we were doing when we first met and later married. We made so many mistakes. Thank God for his grace and his patience.
In 2014, I finally earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications with a concentration in Print and Web Journalism/Professional Writing, just 20 long years after graduating high school. It was an exciting accomplishment.
Throughout my story, I have experienced great joy and deep sorrow. One of the most painful chapters happened a few years ago when my dad was murdered. It is tough losing a parent, especially when they are still young, but even more challenging when you are facing a murder trial. They have arrested someone for his death, but we have no definitive trial date. So, we wait.
My hobbies include photography, singing, gardening, painting, and crocheting. My favorite color is purple, and I am the owner of one small dog, one small grandpuppy, and seven chickens. I love to learn, and I try to look for the bright side of every life situation.
As you may have read in my last post, I recently took a pivotal step in my up-and-coming writing career; I attended two writer’s workshops at the Writers Guild East in New York City. It was an honor to learn from my two talented and seasoned mentors, David Tucker and Jenna Jackson. I left New York City feeling excited about where my writing career will lead.
Although I could write more about myself, I am going to stop for now. I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little of my story. Thank you for taking time to read my blog and sharing in my writing journey.
Now it’s your turn – I would really enjoy learning more about you, my readers. Please feel free to post some fun facts about yourself in the comments.
