About Me

Since I have a few new readers, I decided to share some information about myself.

I grew up in the Midwest and moved many times as a child. My father was a pastor in my early childhood, and my mother was a stay-at-home mom until my parents’ divorce in my mid-teen years.

At age 16, my then boyfriend, now husband, and I had our first child. Our oldest is proof that God really does know how to make something beautiful out of our messes. She is awesome. My husband and I got married two years later, and I joined him on his Active-Duty Army adventure. After we were stationed in Maryland and went overseas to Germany, we settled back in the United States at Fort Campbell, KY. We have been in the Fort Campbell, KY/Clarksville, TN area ever since. He retired from the military a few years ago, and despite dealing with both Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), he is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree. I am so proud of him!

Since our oldest daughter’s birth, we have had three more children – two girls and a boy. They are amazing people, and I am very proud to be their mom.

My husband and I are celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary later this year, and we are more in love today than when we started our journey. Honestly, we had no idea what we were doing when we first met and later married. We made so many mistakes. Thank God for his grace and his patience.

In 2014, I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications with a concentration in Print and Web Journalism/Professional Writing, just 20 long years after graduating high school. It was an exciting accomplishment.

My hobbies include photography, singing, gardening, painting, and crocheting. I enjoy reading books and writing non-fiction works. My favorite color is purple, and I am the owner of one small dog, one small grand puppy, and five chickens. I love to learn, and I seek out the positive side of every life situation.

As you may have read in a few of my earlier posts, I recently took a pivotal step in my up-and-coming writing career; I attended two writer’s workshops at the Writers Guild East in New York City. It was an honor to learn from my two talented and seasoned mentors, David Tucker and Jenna Jackson. I left New York City feeling excited about where I am headed in my writing career as a blogger and author.

As a blogger, I strive to be an authentic, transparent, and informative writer. Every week, I share my funniest moments, greatest joys, and deepest sorrows with my readers. I do not shy away from unusual topics or difficult subject matters. For instance, I have written several bitterly transparent posts about my father’s murder and my grieving process. I let my audience deep into my world, in hopes that my life experiences will bring them inspiration, joy, healing, and hope.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and sharing in my journey. I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little more about me.

If you are interested, I would enjoy learning more about you. Please feel free to post some fun facts about yourself in the comments.

See you next week!
