Two More Days Until Spring

This week’s post is going to be shorter than usual, due to a schedule conflict. So, I thought I would take the opportunity to celebrate the upcoming season. According to my calendar, spring begins in two days, March 20th. I am really excited to see some signs of spring. This week, we had temperatures in the 70 – 85 degree range and some very sunny days. My front flowerbed is starting to fill with green leaves, and some perennial herbs in my garden are showing signs of life. In addition, several cardinals and bluebirds have started appearing on my back READ MORE

Friendship Re-evaluation

As part of my “Welcome to 2016” post in January, I mentioned that I wanted to re-evaluate my relationships. So this week, I spent time thinking about some very important relationships in my life, my friendships. I began my reflection by asking myself several questions; who are my friends, what makes each of my friends valuable to me, what is it that I appreciate about these friends, and what would life be like without them? I have not always had friends. As a child, I moved very frequently. When you are consistently the new kid in town, it is hard to READ MORE

Children Make a Difference

Parenting takes a great deal of love, grace, effort, prayer, and perseverance. It is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, priceless investment into the next generation. I am the mother of four amazing people, three girls and one boy. They are a fun, lively, talented, creative, brilliant, loving, and giving bunch. How often do we consider the impact they make in our lives? I am not READ MORE

Ready for Spring

The winter months are brutal for me and my creative flow. Between the cold temperatures and the gloomy gray sky, I can’t seem to get inspired. Can anyone else relate? As I peered out my sliding glass door this afternoon, I realized just how draining our current weather is for me. I need more sunlight! Thankfully, we have had some intermittent sun-filled days recently, but they were not enough. I am ready for spring. I am ready for beautiful flowers to pop through the soil, birds to sing in chorus, and fresh spring showers. I am looking forward to smelling READ MORE

Take a Look at Her

Today, while scrolling through my Facebook feed, I came across the following picture. Doesn’t the woman in this picture look carefree? I shared the post on my page, and as I moved on with my daily tasks of washing laundry, grocery shopping, and house cleaning, I continued to think about this woman whose arms were spread like an eagle ready to fly. She was looking straight ahead, not to either side or behind her. She wasn’t worried about what was going on around her. Do I resemble this woman? I do sometimes, but not often enough. Although the picture’s theme READ MORE
