Are the words I write, on this blog and for other projects, impacting people? This is the question I often ask myself.
This is blog post number 32. For over 7 months, I have faithfully written to you, my readers, every Thursday evening. Each week, I sit down at my desk with a cup of tea, say a quick prayer for inspiration, and put my fingers on the keyboard.
Then, I wait.
I wait for a new idea or a fresh perspective on a slightly worked draft in my blog folder. I spend hours deciding what to write and how to turn it into a well-crafted message that others will want to read. Sometimes, the words swim on the page and I can’t make them fit together, but I write something anyway. The process can be tough.
As a budding writer, it is easy to get discouraged and want to quit.
Then, I have a week like last week. My blog had an astounding turnout, and I received numerous comments about its latest post. Several people came up to me and thanked me for writing about the sweet, you are my hero, conversation between me and my husband. The post inspired all of them to re-evaluate their relationships, and in a few instances, to make some overdue changes in their marriages.
I want my work to have significance and to see others benefit from it. Last week, the blog post had a measurable impact, and for that I am grateful. We all need encouragement from time-to-time, even blog writers, and your response was enough for me.
So, if you were one of my readers last week, I want to thank you for taking time to read the post, sharing it on social media, and/or giving me feedback. If you didn’t have a chance to read “My Husband, My Hero,” please take a few minutes to check it out. I hope it will be as impacting for you as it was for many of my other readers.
See you next week.
It is true your blog last week could be life changing. Thanks for time you spend each week putting together meaningful words to help us reflect on life.
