It Finally Airs Tonight

Although I was hoping to craft a cheery blog post after my two-month writing hiatus, it didn’t work out that way. Instead, I need to update you, as promised in a previous post, about a project I mentioned last fall.

In October, I wrote a blog entry (Lights, Camera, Action!) about my participation in an episode for the Investigation Discovery channel’s new program, Broken Trust. The show, Gold, Guns & God, tells the story of how Daniel Smith (my dad), Michael Hockensmith, and Angela Hockensmith were murdered by someone they knew.

For my readers who are interested in watching the episode, Broken Trust (Gold, Guns & God) is set to air on the Investigation Discovery channel tonight, June 27th, at 9 pm (EST) / 8 pm (CST).

Unfortunately, Investigation Discovery did not allow the family members/participants to view a pre-screening of the show, so I know very little about what will be aired. However, I was told it would contain disturbing scenes, graphic re-enactments, and emotional interviews, so please be aware that it may not be suitable for younger or easily traumatized audiences.

I am sure the program will be painful for people to watch, especially for those who loved my dad and the Hockensmiths. I know the last two weeks, ever since they told us the air date, have been an emotional rollercoaster for my family and me. Feel free to say a prayer for us.

As far as my blog is concerned, I will be writing a post about the episode. However, I am not sure how long it will take before I am ready. It could be a few hours or several days. Thanks for your patience and understanding as I figure out what words I want to share with you. Most of all, thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Blessings to you all!

See you soon.
